The meal program is one of the most valued services available at San Diego’s Ronald McDonald House, typically serving over 120,000 meals a year. Free meals served with a smile by caring volunteers help to sustain families in the round-the-clock care of their hospitalized children. With COVID-19, we’ve had to close day-use of our House and suspend volunteer meal service. Yet the need for meals hasn’t ended, especially for those with the most critically-ill children, whose treatments can’t wait.
New To-Go Meals
We have adapted to provide to-go meals. Each meal comes with a pre-packed bag that has a bottled drink, utensils, napkin and a cookie or some type of sweet. We’re serving over 200 to-go meals daily.
Ways to Help Provide To-Go Meals
Give online: It’s easy to make an online gift for meals. We’ll apply your gift to where it’s needed most urgently for meals.
Donate Items: We welcome donations of packaged items to put in the bags, such as commercially packaged cookies, chips, granola bars, and fruit chews. To-go containers are also welcome! Please call House Manager Kerrina Navarrette at 760-213-4001 to arrange curbside drop off during business hours.
Shop online for us: select food and supplies from our Amazon wish list for delivery.
Want to cater to-go meals, or order a hot meal for in-House families? It’s a great way to support your favorite restaurants, too! Individually boxed servings work best, but we can also repackage restaurant half pans on site. Please contact Tera Ikeler at 858-598-2414 for arrangements.
