Medical Director, Cardiothoracic ICU, Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego

Dr. Rohit Rao is Medical Director of the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit, Pulmonary Hypertension Program, and Project ADAM at Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego, where he has served since 2017. A Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at UC San Diego, Dr. Rao trained in India and the U.S. in pediatrics, pediatric critical care, and cardiology. His connection to Ronald McDonald House began through patient care, where he witnessed its impact on families. He brings expertise in strategic planning, clinical operations, and health innovation to the Board. Passionate about family-centered care, he values Ronald McDonald House Charities’ mission, both professionally and personally. Dr. Rao enjoys reading, music, and family time with his wife, pediatric pulmonologist Dr. Aparna Rao, and their two college-aged sons.
