Finding Strength Together: The Lingat Family

For families facing serious medical challenges, the Ronald McDonald House is more than a place to stay—it’s a place to call home.

When twins Zachary and Zion were born, their parents, Geric and Julie Ann, could not have imagined the challenges ahead. Early complications turned into a long journey of hospital stays and treatments, full of uncertainty. Through it all, San Diego’s Ronald McDonald House provided a place of comfort and support where the family could be together.

Big sister Anaya proved to be a perfect match for bone marrow transplants, giving her little brothers their best chance at recovery. The road was never simple—setbacks and anxious waiting were part of the journey—but the Ronald McDonald House offered a steady, supportive home base.

“The House gave us a place to rest, meals we didn’t have to worry about, and even a kitchen where I could cook Filipino food,” says Julie Ann. “But the most important thing was the sense of family. Staff, volunteers, and other parents walked alongside us. They gave us strength when we felt weak.” —Julie Ann Lingat

Celebrating Life Together

Even during the hardest times, the House helped the family find joy. Holidays brought decorated halls, special meals, and gifts for the children. Auntie and Grandma came to stay and lend a hand. All four siblings continued to grow and reach milestones of their own—school for the oldest brother, Elijah, first steps and playtime for the twins, and everyday moments of togetherness.

A New Chapter

The Ronald McDonald House helped the family feel ready to leave the hospital and move forward with confidence. Today, the Lingats are building a new life in San Diego, staying close to care. Geric is back to work, and Julie Ann is focused on caring for the children. She’s also an advocate for families like hers, sharing how the House supported them every step of the way.

Ronald McDonald House donors may never meet us, but their generosity changed our lives. When we were far from home, they gave us comfort, community, and a sense of normalcy. —Julie Ann Lingat
