What is the Hoehn Motors Luxury Car Raffle benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego?
The Hoehn Motors Luxury Car Raffle is a fundraiser to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego. All raffle proceeds benefit San Diego’s Ronald McDonald House. The raffle aims to raise funds for Ronald McDonald House in its continuing effort to provide a “home away from home” to thousands of families with a child in the hospital. In addition to supporting the Ronald McDonald House, the raffle offers participants an opportunity to win great prizes, including the top prize – winner’s choice of one of three luxury vehicles plus $15,000, or $75,000 cash.

The prize winners, as well as the San Diego Ronald McDonald House and all of the families we serve.
When does the raffle start and when does it end?
The raffle begins on Monday, August 5, 2019. Public ticket sales end at 8:00PM PST on Friday, October 11, 2019. Ticket orders must be received at that time.
Who can buy a raffle ticket?
The raffle is open to any individual who is 18 years of age or older and in the state of California at the time of ticket purchase. RMHC-SD employees, members of the Board of Trustees, authorized agents and employees thereof, consultants, attorneys, independent accountant firm, and their spouses and children living in the same household are excluded from participating and are not eligible to win a prize. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply. The raffle is void where prohibited or restricted by law. An affidavit of eligibility may be required of prize winners.
Do I have to be a California resident in order to participate in the raffle?
No, but you must be physically located in the state of California at time of ticket purchase.
How much does a raffle ticket cost?
A single ticket costs $100, three tickets for $250, five tickets for $400, and 10 tickets for $500.
Are raffle tickets tax-deductible?
No. The IRS does not allow raffle tickets to be a tax-deductible contribution.
What are the odds of winning?
The odds of winning any prize – including the Grand Prize – are based on the number of tickets sold. If fewer tickets are sold, the chances of winning the Grand Prize improve. If the maximum number of tickets is sold, the odds of winning the Grand Prize are 1 in 6,000 for any single ticket.
How many raffle tickets will be sold?
Only 6,000 tickets will be sold.

Do you accept applications by email or sell tickets on the internet?
No. Pursuant to California statutory regulations and to section 320.5 of the Penal Code, charitable raffle tickets may not be sold, redeemed or exchanged on the internet.
I have not received my email confirmation receipt – what can I do?
Please call 888-824-9939 or email carraffle@rmhcsd.org to confirm your ticket order. You may be asked to provide an alternate email address.
Will I receive physical tickets in the mail? Do I need it?
No. The official ticket stub is not required to claim a prize and is not a substitute for proof of identification. The stubs are kept at Ronald McDonald House with the tickets that go into the raffle drawing bins.
If I wanted my ticket stub(s), how do I request for it/them?
While a stub is not necessary for claiming a prize win, participants who wish to receive their ticket stub(s) must submit their request to carraffle@rmhcsd.org or pick up the official stub(s) in person at Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego, 2929 Children’s Way, San Diego CA 92123, no earlier than four weeks after their purchase has been processed. Please note that the ticket stub(s) will be shipped via FedEX and must be sent to a home or business address in California (P.O. Boxes not accepted).
What is the Multi-Ticket Drawing?
The Multi-Ticket Drawing is an added benefit for participants who buy multiple raffle tickets. Any individual who buys two or more raffle tickets will be entered into the Multi-Ticket Drawing, subject to the following: to be eligible entrants must purchase two or more raffle tickets during the same purchase, using one method of payment, using the same name on each raffle ticket, and the same mailing address for each eligible raffle ticket. The Multi-Ticket Drawing consists of a drawing bin and corresponding tickets separate from the main Grand Prize Drawing bin and tickets. For each eligible raffle ticket purchased, one raffle ticket will be added to the Grand Prize Drawing bin and a corresponding entry ticket will be added to the dedicated Multi-Ticket Drawing bin. For example, if two raffle tickets are purchased, two tickets will be entered into the Multi-Ticket Drawing and two tickets will be entered into the Grand Prize Drawing. If three raffle tickets are purchased, three tickets will be entered into the Multi-Ticket Drawing and three tickets will be entered into the Grand Prize Drawing and so forth.
What is the Gala Drawing?
Any individual who purchases a raffle ticket and attends RMHC-SD’s gala event ROMP: Enchanted, The Magic of Hope on Saturday, October 12, 2019 will be entered into the Gala Drawing to be conducted on the same night as the gala. Gala event attendance requires a separate admission fee at a cost of $500.00 per attendee, subject to availability. Event admission does not include raffle tickets or Gala Drawing entries. Individuals who attend the gala event and purchase a raffle ticket will be entered into the Gala Drawing and Grand Prize Drawing. Individuals who attend the gala event and purchase multiple raffle tickets will be entered into the Gala Drawing, Grand Prize Drawing and Multi-Ticket Drawing. For example, an individual who attends the gala and purchases one raffle ticket, will have one ticket entered into the Gala Drawing and one ticket entered into the Grand Prize Drawing. An individual who attends the gala event and purchases two raffle tickets, will have two raffle tickets entered into the Gala Drawing, two raffle tickets entered into the Grand Prize Drawing, and two tickets entered into the Multi-Ticket Drawing, and so forth.
What are the prizes?
Grand Prize Drawing
Grand Prize is winner’s choice of one of the following: 1) a 2019 Audi S5 Cabriolet base model factory equipped valued at $65,100 plus $15,000 cash; 2) a 2019 Cadillac Escalade base model factory equipped valued at $75,100 plus $15,000 cash; 3) a 2019 Porsche Cayenne base model factory equipped valued at $66,800 plus $15,000 cash; or 4) $75,000 cash.
Multi-Ticket Drawing

Are raffle prizes considered income?
Yes. In addition, RMHCSD will withhold required federal taxes for all prizes over $5,000, in accordance with federal law. For cash prizes, RMHCSD will remit the balance of the prize total to the winner.
Will the drawing be audited?
Yes, an independent accounting agency will audit tickets and all drawings associated with the raffle.
When will the prize drawings be held?
The drawings are scheduled to be held on the night of our gala event on Saturday, October 12, 2019, subject to change.
Do I have to be present to win?
No – you do not have to be present to win prizes in either Grand Prize or Multi-Ticket Drawings. However, the Disneyland Resort tickets package in the Gala Drawing is a bonus incentive to ROMP: Enchanted, The Magic of Hope gala event paid attendees only, and one must be present to claim his/her prize.
How do I find out if I won?
Prize winners will be contacted according to the contact information provided at the time of ticket purchase. In addition to a list of winners posted on the raffle web page at rmhcsd.org/carraffle, a list of winners may be obtained from the Ronald McDonald House by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to Hoehn Motors Luxury Car Raffle, c/o RMHC-SD, 2929 Children’s Way, San Diego, CA 92123 within 30 days of the drawing date.
How will the winners be notified?
The list of winners will be published online at www.rmhcsd.org/carraffle shortly after the drawings conclude on Saturday, October 12, 2019. A complimentary email will be sent to all ticket purchasers to inform participants of the raffle drawings results.
Winners will be notified by phone, email, or mail – in that order – based on the contact information provided at the time of ticket purchase.
How do I redeem my prize?
In order to collect his or her prize, a ticket winner may be required to sign and deliver to RMHC-SD: (a) a sworn affidavit of eligibility in accordance with these Rules and applicable law, including, without limitation, that he or she is at least 18 years old; (b) such written information as is required by any applicable tax and/or real estate laws, including, without limitation, his or her Social Security Number; and (c) proof of identity in forms satisfactory to the RMHC-SD showing that the person claiming the prize is the same person who is named on the winning raffle ticket. The official ticket stub is not required to claim a prize and is not a substitute for proof of identification. Winners of prizes valued at $1,500 or more may be required to submit a W-2G, Form 5754 or similar tax form for tax withholding purposes.
Is the Hoehn Motors Luxury Car Raffle legal?
Yes, it is. In the summer of 2001, the California Legislature amended the state constitution to allow eligible non-profit organizations to conduct raffles as a means of raising funds. Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego, Inc. is registered with the California Attorney General’s Office to conduct this charitable raffle. Registration does not imply endorsement.
