Job Title: Corporate and Community Philanthropy Coordinator
Department: Fundraising
Position Type: Hybrid with frequent full in-office days based on busy seasons and activities. Non-Exempt position
Job Summary:
The Corporate & Community Philanthropy Coordinator is responsible for supporting the growth of significant philanthropic revenue from prospective and current donors on behalf of Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego (RMHC-SD). Reporting to the Director of Corporate and Community Philanthropy, the Coordinator will oversee annual third-party fundraising events and cultivate partnerships with corporate and community organizations. This role will implement strategic initiatives designed to generate new revenue opportunities and strengthen the organization’s philanthropic network. In addition, the coordinator will provide administrative support to the Corporate & Community Department to ensure the effective and efficient execution of all departmental activities.
Reports To: Corporate and Community Philanthropy Director
Essential Functions:
Philanthropy
- Manage a portfolio of community and corporate groups to help increase revenue by leading engagement and sponsorship opportunities
- Serve as primary management for assigned community & corporate service projects and volunteer opportunities at the Ronald McDonald House and off-site
- Research and identify prospective donors for events and in-store and cause marketing campaigns
- Maintain production and fundraising records and budget class for assigned events/campaigns
- Increase revenue for Corporate/Community donors, and signature events as assigned in SMART Goals and outlined in the Corporate/Community Philanthropy budget by 5 percent (+/_) annually
- Coordinate auction solicitations and silent/live auctions
- Assist with executing stewardship plans with Corporate and Community partners
- Help maintain fundraising records, including Salesforce, donor lists and internal files
- Produce letters and proposals for donors and/or prospects as assigned (including mail merge documents)
- Assist with developing fundraising and event marketing materials
- Manage stewardship communications to new and current donors
Event Management
- Lead third party events and initiatives such as Dinner with Friends, Poker Ride, and programs such as Red Shoe Crew. Tasks include the creation of timelines, vendor relations, budget management, and overall event leadership
- Assist the Corporate & Community Philanthropy Director and Officer to coordinate aspects of department events and programs
- Manage all event registration processes
- Speaking opportunities and tabling at Third Party events as available
- Staff liaison for assigned event committees and manages meetings, follow-up and stewardship
Administrative
- Manage data input and projects in fundraising and donor management systems as well as events, marketing and other internal reports.
- Communicates efficiently, both verbally and in writing, with a range of constituencies, including employees, trustees, volunteers, event committee members and donors
- Negotiates and manages contractor, consultant, and vendor rates of pay, hours worked, and grievances or complaints as well as apportioning the respective work and job duties
- Demonstrates exceptional interpersonal skills while working as part of a small team environment
- Code income and expenses as well as credit card spending
- Support a wide range of projects in other departments as needed
- Monitors work for legal or regulatory compliance
- Provides for safety and security of the workplace
- Work occasional weekend and evening events
- Other duties as assigned
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree from accredited institution
- Minimum of 1-2 years of fundraising experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment
- Minimum of 1-2 years of event planning experience
- Knowledge and experience with Salesforce
- Basic understanding of fundraising software and email marketing platforms.
- Understanding and knowledge of Adobe and Microsoft (Word, Excel, Outlook) suites
- Social Media proficiency
- Public speaking comfortability in small to large group settings
- Exceptional writing and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and extensive periods of time. Use of personal vehicle may be required; possess a valid driver’s license. Adjust personal work schedule to meet current work demands of the position
- Ability to balance multiple tasks and remain flexible in thinking and decision- making in changing situations
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with House Guests, donors, supervisory staff, co-workers, vendors, and public/media
