Red Shoe Day 2026 Raises Over $178,000 for Families

Red Shoe Day volunteers brought plenty of fun to the morning commute across San Diego, and our community gave right back—helping raise over $178,000 for families at San Diego’s Ronald McDonald House.

On Wednesday, May 20, more than 800 volunteers headed out with signs, red tutus, capes, and plenty of other festive accessories to catch commuters’ attention and celebrate the day. At more than 90 intersections, drivers stopped to drop donations into the oversized red shoes volunteers held at the curb.

Every dollar raised through Red Shoe Day helps families who come to our community for the essential care their child needs by giving them a place to stay and the support and resources they need.

That generosity went even further this year, unlocking an additional $100,000 through the Fowler Family Challenge in support of Imagine the Moment, the House’s expansion campaign.

A Community Effort from Start to Finish

Red Shoe Day is the largest volunteer-driven fundraiser for San Diego’s Ronald McDonald House, and teams across the county help make it happen.

Local businesses also stepped up through sponsorships and give-back events, donating a portion of proceeds and inviting their customers to support families at the House.

This year, Happy Feet for a Happy House joined for the first time and brought impressive team spirit from the start. Team captain Denise rallied friends, neighbors, and solo volunteers, with plenty of red accessories to help the team celebrate the day.

And a big congratulations to Tessa and Matt’s Red Shoe Crew, this year’s top fundraising team. Anyone lucky enough to volunteer alongside them knows their Red Shoe Day enthusiasm is contagious—and this year, it helped bring in the most donations from any team!

We’re grateful to everyone who helped make Red Shoe Day possible—from the volunteers in red to the businesses, donors, and behind-the-scenes supporters who kept the day moving. Thank you!
