For 8 years, Tom has participated in our Giving Back Raffle because he believed in helping families. He never expected to become one of its biggest winners.
Tom, like many others, bought a ticket hoping to win a great prize but knew that no matter what, participating meant he was supporting families in need of a “home away from home” during their child’s medical crisis.
But when you’ve played for so many years, Tom sometimes wondered if anyone ever won.
This year, luck was on his side.
Tom, a proud Navy Veteran, was surprised when he got the call telling him he was the winner of the Early Bird #1 Drawing in our 2026 San Diego Giving Back Raffle.
He now had to make a choice between three amazing prizes: A 2026 Lexus LX, 2026 BMW 840i, or $100,000 Cash!
In a twist of fate, just one day earlier, Tom visited a dealership and was looking at new vehicles. His current car had logged more than 200,000 miles, and he knew it would need to be replaced sooner rather than later.
We’re excited to share that last Friday, Tom stood next to his newly won 2026 Lexus LX, smiling with keys in his hand.
Winning a new 2026 Lexus LX was only part of Tom’s experience.
Tom also visited our San Diego Ronald McDonald House, where he got a tour, met staff and guest families, and saw firsthand how raffle supporters help provide comfort, housing, meals, and care for families with hospitalized children.
For Tom, a two-time cancer survivor, the visit was a powerful reminder that every raffle ticket does more than offer a chance to win. It also helps families stay together during some of life’s most difficult moments.
