Day of Joy/Día de Alegría was launched in 2013 with a dream to build a bridge between leading Latinas in the San Diego community and the Hispanic families served by San Diego’s Ronald McDonald House. Now in its sixth year, this exclusive event relies on the generosity and leadership of Ambassador Hosts to invite ladies from both sides of the border to join together in raising vital funds in support of families caring for a hospitalized child.
Every year, this group brings the fun and the generosity to a new level. And this year was no exception! On May 22nd, Co-Chairs Monica Fimbres and Elisa Jaime gathered with more than 200 Latinas y Amigas at the Westgate Hotel for a fabulous luncheon featuring live music, fine cuisine, and festive cocktails. Through an extensive silent auction, dynamic live auction, and various other donation opportunities, guests were able to “shop for a purpose” and make an impact for families in need.
Supporting Hispanic Communities
Together, this group raised over $80,000 and helped to fund more than 500 cost-free nights for weary moms, dads, and grandparents as they fight for the recovery of their hospitalized child. 46% of these families will come from Hispanic communities and with the support of this incredible group of leading Latinas, these families will be able to count on lodging, meals, schooling and so much more when it truly matters most.
