Matthew Hernandez was one of too many children lost to childhood leukemia in the 1970s. His parents were grief-stricken, yet driven to create something lasting and positive for the future. Together they formed a group that helped other families with children facing a medical crisis.
What started as a support group in 1976 gave birth to Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego. Four decades later, the House provides lodging for more than 1,100 families a year and welcomes an additional 12,000 for meals, showers and many more day services.
The launch of the Many Hearts Legacy Society
The Many Hearts Legacy Society is inspired by the many hearts that gave birth to our Ronald McDonald House. It recognizes the collective impact of caring people who continue the life of the House through their estate plan.
The Society celebrates the collective impact of the “many hearts” that make our House a home. We hope to include yours. Your planned gift can secure your membership and help ensure that many years from now, families still will receive our essential services. As your legacy, you’ll help keep these families close during their child’s medical crisis.
The benefits of your Many Hearts Legacy Society membership include:
- Creating a legacy benefiting future families.
- Permanent recognition of your giving in our Joseph Clayes III Great Room.
- Invitation to various VIP events, including an exclusive annual reception for members.
