Remembering Beloved CFO Gail M. Sullivan
It was with profound sadness that Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego learned of the death of Gail M. Sullivan on December 31, 2015.
Gail joined Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego as Chief Financial Officer in 2009. She was responsible for all facets of financial operations and human resources. She also coordinated the 2011-2014 San Diego Dream House Raffles. Gail was absolutely instrumental in our development as a financially sound, fiscally strong organization of caring individuals serving families with a child in medical crisis.
A native of Indiana, Gail received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Indiana State University, was a Certified Public Accountant, and earned a Master of Science in Executive Leadership from University of San Diego. Gail had diverse leadership experience in private industry, and she was a finalist for the San Diego Business Journal’s first annual CFO of the Year award in 2007.
Professional and Personal
Gail’s love of the Ronald McDonald Houses began years earlier when her sister stayed at the Indianapolis Ronald McDonald House. Beyond her professional role, Gail pursued a variety of artistic interests, including as a vocalist and musician at Mission San Diego de Alcala. She occasionally played folk harp for families at lunchtime.
Her contributions to our House and the San Diego community are simply too many to enumerate. Gail was a dedicated, trusted and collegial member of the Ronald McDonald House family and will be missed dearly.
Among other family, Gail is survived by her children, Athena Leimer, Matthew Dean, and Serena Gerbrandt and her spouse, Riley, and their three children.
